Fort Nelson receives new and upgraded used oil recycling depots

RCF Program
Wide Sky Disposal – Vicky Woodworth and Kayden Vatcher

BCUOMA is pleased to announce that Dalex Auto Services, located at 4440 – 50th St., Fort Nelson, B.C. received a grant from BCUOMA that provided them with a 20-foot modified sea container and 2,200-litre tank.

In addition, Wide Sky Disposal, located at 4501 55th St. Fort Nelson, B.C., also received a grant from BCUOMA whereby they upgraded their current used oil recycling depot with a 20-foot sea container and 2,200-litre tank. These new and upgraded public recycling centres will provide the residents of Fort Nelson with easy, free and eco-friendly facilities to return their used oil and antifreeze materials.

“Diana and Todd Penney, owners of Dalex Auto, wanted to provide their community with a safe and reliable facility for their DIY oil-change customers to return their used oil products,” said David Lawes, CEO, BC Used Oil Management Association. “Many of their customers are very hands-on when it comes to maintaining their cars and equipment, and it therefore made sense for Dalex Auto to have a used oil recycling depot conveniently located on their property.”

“Wide Sky Disposal has been a committed BCUOMA used oil recycling depot since 2004,” said Lawes.
“It is wonderful to see businesses from all over B.C. continuing to apply for infrastructure grants from BCUOMA that provide them with dedicated containers and tanks for the responsible collection of used oil and antifreeze.”

BCUOMA would like to acknowledge that the Dalex Auto Services’ and Wide Sky Disposal used oil recycling centres are located on the Fort Nelson First Nation traditional territory. Fort Nelson First Nation is one of the Treaty 8 First Nations.
