New Used Oil Recycling Centre Now Open in Kamloops

News

We are pleased to announce the official opening of the new oil recycling centre at Northwood Environmental Services Ltd in Kamloops, B.C., located at 478 Okanagan Way. The new oil recycling centre features a new 20-foot sea container and 2,200 litre used oil storage tank to collect and recycle used oil, oil filters, oil containers, used antifreeze and antifreeze containers.

“Most British Columbians are recycling their oil without even knowing it,” said David Lawes, CEO, Interchange Recycling. “When you take your vehicle in for a service or an oil change at a registered oil change or mechanic shop, the employees ensure that your oil is being recycled for you. For the do-it-yourself market, we have a network of approximately 300 collection sites around the province which make it safe, convenient and easy for British Columbians to do the right thing and return their used oil and antifreeze materials, making sure they don’t end up in our environment.”

“Recycling in Kamloops has been becoming more and more convenient, especially over the last year,” said  Jeremy White, General Manager of Northwood Environmental Services Ltd. “Earlier in the summer, the city launched a curbside compost pickup to divert more waste from our landfills. This used oil recycling depot at Northwood Environmental Services Ltd is another step in the right direction for making our beautiful city a cleaner place to live and visit.”

Interchange Recycling would like to acknowledge that Northwood Environmental Services Ltd is located on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory, situated within the unceded ancestral lands of the Secwépemc Nation.

Through the Interchange Recycling’s Infrastructure grant program, the organization continues to seek out opportunities to upgrade or build new recycling facility locations across BC, to improve reasonable access for British Columbians to accessible and free used oil recycling centres.
