North Coast Regional District opens two new public used oil recycling facilities

We are excited to share that the North Coast Regional District (“NCRD”) received a grant from BCUOMA that provided them with two modified sea containers to be used for the responsible collection and storage of returned used oil and antifreeze materials at two new public used oil recycling depots located in Port Clements, 71454 Hwy.16, and in Skidegate, approximately 10km north of the First Nation community of Skidegate on Hwy.16.

“BC Used Oil Management Association has been looking to open additional used oil recycling locations on the North Coast of B.C., and when the North Coast Regional District approached us last year and requested a grant to develop used oil recycling infrastructure at these two prime locations in Skidegate and Port Clements, we jumped at this great opportunity,” said David Lawes, CEO, BC Used Oil Management Association.

“These locations will provide the two communities with free, easy to use, and safe facilities to return their used oil and antifreeze materials. Program materials collected here will then be transferred to processing facilities on the Mainland where they will be recycled into various new products.”

BCUOMA would like to acknowledge that the North Coast Regional District’s used oil recycling facilities in Skidegate and Port Clements are located on the traditional territory of the Skidegate Haida people.
