100 Mile House receives upgrade to used oil recycling centre

Gold Trail Recycling, located at 694 Sollows Crescent, 100 Mile House, B.C., last week received a grant from BCUOMA that provided them with an additional 20-foot modified sea container to be used for the responsible collection and storage of returned used oil and antifreeze materials.

“Residents of 100 Mile House and the surrounding areas have been proactive at returning their used oil and antifreeze materials to Gold Trail Recycling,” said David Lawes, CEO, BC Used Oil Management Association. “Gold Trail Recycling already has a 20-foot sea can and two intermediate bulk containers (IBC) totes to collect used oil materials, but Cindy Marius and the team at Gold Trail Recycling knew that they needed to expand in order to keep up with their customers’ recycling needs, and to stay ahead of their environmental management practices. Cindy applied for BCUOMA’s infrastructure grant and received an additional seacan to be exclusively used to safely store the used oil materials returned by community members.”

BCUOMA continues to look for opportunities to upgrade and improve recycling facility locations across the province in order to provide British Columbians with reasonable access to convenient and free used oil recycling centres. BCUOMA’s infrastructure grant program requires the responsible environmental handling, collection, transportation, storage, processing and recycling of used oil and antifreeze material using economic, efficient and environmentally acceptable options.
