That’s a Wrap on Our 2026 Summer Ambassador Tour!
• NewsFrom June 2 to July 14, our Interchange Recycling Ambassadors, Kithara and Fernanda, hit the road for a six-week tour across the province, from Greater Vancouver to Vancouver Island to Kelowna. From bustling farmers’ markets to beachside festivals and classic car shows, they brought the conversation about responsible recycling directly to residents of British Columbia.
At each of the 17 events they attended, our Ambassadors talked with attendees about how to safely and conveniently recycle used motor oil and antifreeze products. Using an interactive trivia wheel, they educated visitors on where their nearest Public Collection Facility is located, what materials are accepted, and how re-refining turns used oil and antifreeze into valuable new resources. Every drop-off, and every routine oil change, keeps that cycle going.
In between events, the Ambassadors also stopped by seven Return Collection Facilities across the province to connect with facility staff, check in on operations, and say thank you for the work they do every day to support responsible recycling in their communities.
By the Numbers
This summer, the team:
- Attended 17 events in 6 weeks, spanning auto shows, community festivals, and farmers’ markets
- Engaged 3,691 attendees one-on-one, with a potential reach of 200,000+ British Columbians
- Visited 7 Return Collection Facilities to connect with staff and check in on operations
- Handed out hundreds of Interchange-branded giveaways, from colouring books to lip balms and pens
- Debunked common misconceptions about what Interchange Recycling does and doesn’t accept
- Celebrated everyday British Columbians already doing their part, from routine oil changes to regular RCF drop-offs
Sparking Conversations, One Booth at a Time
Everywhere they went, Kithara and Fernanda sparked curiosity, answered questions, and celebrated the people already leading by example, whether that meant bringing their vehicle in for regular servicing or making the trip to their local Return Collection Facility. From downtown city centres to laid-back lakeside towns, they reminded people that small actions, like recycling used oil and antifreeze properly, add up to a big difference for BC.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, spin the wheel, or share your own recycling story. You helped make this tour a success!
We’re already looking ahead to 2027. If you’re hosting a community event and think the Interchange Ambassadors should be there, get in touch with the details at info@interchangerecycling.com.
