Sicamous Landfill Receives New Infrastructure for Used Oil Recycling

News

We are excited to announce that the Sicamous Landfill, located at 925 Two Mile Road, has received new recycling infrastructure. The site now features a new 20 ft sea container with an 1,100 litre tank and two drums for used oil collection along with additional storage capacity for other program materials.

“Sicamous now has dedicated infrastructure that makes it easier and safer to recycle used oil, antifreeze, and related materials,” said David Lawes, CEO, Interchange Recycling. “By installing proper containment and collection systems, we’re helping ensure these materials are responsibly managed, contributing to a more sustainable future for the community.”

“We welcome this fourth collection site in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District in collaboration with Interchange Recycling, who have been our partners since 2016,” said Graham Casselman, Waste Reduction Coordinator, Columbia Shuswap Regional District. “The new infrastructure at Sicamous Landfill will ensure safe handling of the hazardous materials and keep some of the perfectly recyclable products out of the landfill. The program has been successful at our other locations,  where we were recognized as a ‘Top Collector” by Interchange Recycling. We encourage everyone to make use of this new facility. The new site is now open to the public and can be accessed on Saturdays between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.”
