Penticton Upgrades Used Oil Recycling Site to Better Serve Residents

RCF Program

We are excited to announce that through our infrastructure grant program, Barry Beecroft Fuel Distributors Ltd., located at 448 Industrial Ave E, Penticton, have made substantial upgrades to its used oil recycling infrastructure, improving recycling access for customers and residents in Penticton. The facility received a new 5,000 litre tank with four drum spill containment pallets, and a drum funnel for used oil collection and  storage of additional Interchange Recycling program materials.

“This location in Penticton is a high traffic area where additional collection infrastructure will improve  accessibility for the community” said David Lawes, CEO, Interchange Recycling. “Not only has this facility provided extra storage for used oil– allowing Barry Beecroft to serve more customers between service pickups, but it also has improved the ergonomic design for pouring and assisting, along with keeping the drop off area clean and safe for  customers and employees working on site. Used Oil is a perfectly recyclable product and we are working on improving  access for British Columbia and  Yukon residents.”

Formed in 2003 under the British Columbia Society Act, Interchange Recycling has provided British Columbians with a convenient, free, and eco-friendly way to recycle program materials for the past two decades. 99.4 percent of residents across the province currently have reasonable access to recycling locations.

“We have been part of the Interchange Recycling Collection network since 2021 and even though we have been one of the top collectors in 2024, the facility was not adequately equipped to serve every customer walking through our doors.” said Chase Spence, Operations & Safety Manager, Barry Beecroft Fuel Distributors  “With the support of Interchange Recycling’s Infrastructure Grant, we’re now able to better meet the needs of our employees and customers while improving recycling access for Penticton residents, ultimately contributing to a safer environment for our community.”
