Driving Awareness: Our 2025 Tour Across BC Communities

Community Engagement

That’s a Wrap on Our 2025 Summer Ambassador Tour!

Over the past six weeks, our Interchange Recycling Ambassadors hit the road for a whirlwind tour across the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and the Okanagan. From the heart of downtown farmers’ markets to beachside community festivals and vintage car shows, they brought the conversation about responsible recycling directly to British Columbia residents.

At each of the 17 events they attended, the Ambassadors talked with attendees about how to safely recycle used motor oil, antifreeze, filters, and containers. They shared resources, answered questions, and pointed people to their nearest Public Collection Facility and with 99.6% of BC residents living within reach of one, recycling is more convenient than ever.

In between events, the Ambassadors also stopped by several public collection sites to connect with facility staff and check in on operations, giving them an even deeper look into the work happening across the province to support responsible recycling.

Just as importantly, our Ambassadors took the time to celebrate individuals who are already doing their part. Whether it was someone who regularly brings their vehicle to a lube shop or mechanic for routine servicing, the team made sure to recognize and thank them for contributing to a cleaner, greener BC.

This summer, the team:

  • Visited 17 events in 6 weeks
  • Engaged thousands of people across BC
  • Handed out hundreds of Interchange-branded giveaways
  • Tattooed dozens of eco-enthusiastic kids
  • Visiting local collection sites to connect with staff
  • Shared the importance of recycling program materials and how every action adds up
  • Celebrating those already leading by example in their communities

Everywhere they went, the Ambassadors sparked important conversations about sustainability and applauded those already doing their part. From bustling city centres to laid-back lakeside towns, they reminded people that small actions, like recycling used oil and antifreeze properly, make a big difference.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, ask questions, or share stories. You helped make this tour a success!
