Celebrating the 2026 Canadian Youth Climate Action Award Winners

We’re proud to be a supporter of the Canadian Youth Climate Action Awards (CYCAA), presented by Pivot Green and the Small Change Fund, celebrating the next generation of environmental leaders across Canada.

This year marked the 4th annual awards, with twelve outstanding youth-led projects recognized from coast to coast. From regenerative farming to watershed restoration to climate-conscious infrastructure design, this year’s winners are proof that young Canadians aren’t just talking about climate change, they’re taking real, tangible action in their communities.

First Prize: Sundance Commons – Southwestern Ontario

Awarded first place, Sundance Commons empowers marginalized youth by providing free access to land, specialized equipment, and expert mentorship to launch sustainable, regenerative farm enterprises. Operating across five locations in southwestern Ontario, each site serves as an incubator farm and educational learning space for regenerative practices and social equity. The project’s goal is to dismantle systemic barriers to agriculture while fostering intergenerational knowledge exchange to build a climate-resilient, equitable local food system, with education at the heart of everything they do.

Runner-Up: Lois Creek Stream and Wetland Enhancement Project – Kukamaʔnam / Kimberley, British Columbia

The Lois Creek system had been severely degraded over the past 25 years. Over three years, Youth Climate Corps (YCC) worked alongside hydrology and ecological professionals to design and implement a restoration plan that enhanced this aquatic ecosystem for wildlife, native plants, and water quality, while strengthening landscape-level climate resilience and boosting carbon sequestration.
